"When was the last time you were at a wedding that had a death defying hike, rogue waves, a luau, ultimate fighting, a presidential candidate and a budding bromance?" asks Papi Chulo. For most of us, the answer is never, but luckily, Papi Chulo and Secret Agent Scotch took the time to Vox all the amazing moments during their unforgettable Hawaiian wedding on 08.08.08 so we could all take part in the festivities.

The story began last February, when Papi Chulo popped the question and Secret Agent Scotch said yes! Since then, they've kept us in the loop about all the details, from the bride's veil to the wedding song to the final To-Do List. And throughout it all, they inspired us with their love for each other. (I'm pretty sure it doesn't get any better than knowing your future husband thinks you are The Perfect Girl.)

It's an amazing love story and we are thrilled they shared it with us. Watch the video of the ceremony and please join us in wishing Papi Chulo and Secret Agent Scotch the fairytale ending they deserve.

Waking Up~Another chapter ending

Make them sleep

It's been a while since I've done my monthly venting session. Since April a lot has happened. The last update I made regarding my life, I was upset about the art show and felt it didn't go very well. A few weeks later I received a letter from the Degas pastel society telling me that they thought my work was of excellence and quality that was desired in there society. They asked me to become a member. While it was quite an honor I still have not responded. Something about joining a "society" strikes a rebellious nerve in me. Plus I don't want to be forced to perform (I'm a big fat chicken) Art is my release and I don't want it to become a job.

I also spoke of my card reading and how I asked the question about my infamous John Doe. Well, he was somewhat right about him being alive and well. But very wrong about the time frame in which he would make contact. He said that it would be years when in fact, it was months. He made contact with me in June and gave me quite the shock and put my emotions into an upheaval for a time. While I was half expecting to hear from him, the other half really didn't think he give a shat and that I would likely never see him again, part of me had buried him. Six years is a long time. I surprised myself, and had thought of the day when I would speak to him again and truthfully, I thought I would curse, scream and tell him to go to hell, but I didn't. I guess I grew up more than I thought I did. I was calm and receptive when we spoke partly because I wanted an explanation and partly because I could partially relate to what had happened to him. I also feel my daughter deserves to look him in the eye and ask him why he was gone so long and why did he abandon her. I needed the closure of knowing what happened to him so that I could stop looking for him and lay it to rest. As angry as I had been about him abandoning my daughter, I was relieved to know that he wasn't in fact, a nameless John Doe and that he was now well. I never wished anything bad to happen to him and hoped he was going to one day find him self. Sobriety is a hard battle and I hope he really won, it's liberating to be free from the demons of addiction and to finally find life again. It's an awesome experience to stop running from the past and look forward to the future, and I hope that in truth he has found this. I guess only time will tell. I've decided it would be in my daughter's best interest (if he is in fact sober) that she see him and rectify the fear of rejection she has harbored because of his disappearance. I think she needs to have a resolution to her questions regarding him. My biggest fear is that he will abandon her again and finalize the rejection and hurt, and ruin her trust in people in general. I would hate to see such a pretty and smart girl with deeper scars than she already carries. She is very mature, and she is being very cautious right now, she is still not quite ready to speak to him, she is still deeply confused and hurt. I understand her sentiment and I will not allow her to be pushed into something that makes her uncomfortable, it's already strange and awkward so I will make sure she has the time she needs to adjust.

On a lighter note, we finally got Razou (our horse) home and he is adjusting just fine. I think he really likes it and he is making a lot of progress. He is not quite as timid as when I first saw him and I think with patience he will be fine. He will now eat out of my hand and shows off for me quite a bit.

My veggie/fruit garden has taken off. I have cucumbers, squash, peas, carrots, watermelons, corn, tomatoes, pumpkins, blueberries, Satsuma's, grapefruits, jalapeño's, lemons, and will have some more pecans come fall. While it doesn't battle gas prices it can't hurt with the grocery bill…so I think I'll keep adding to my garden, plus I love to watch things grow.

We are also starting our family vacation (although I'm at work right now) because of gas prices we won't be going far (just over the big pond) we will be spending the week in New Orleans, visiting the places that I should go to, but don't because we are always to busy working. School starts in just 2 weeks and I'm in no way ready!!! My daughter will be in Junior high and the baby will start pre-k. I'm pretty nervous about all these changes coming at once, but I know we will manage, we always do.

Well, there is more to tell but it can wait, I'm sure no one really reads these things, and if they do I probably lost them at that first paragraph. I'm sorry if you are unlucky enough to have made it through my rambling and thanks.

Mommy Bloggers Hit the Road

Summer Road Trip '08

Although we typically post on Team Vox to let you know about things that are going on with Vox (to, uh, state the obvious), once in a while, we like to let you know about other cool things that are happening around the blogosphere. And we think the idea of four hilarious mommy bloggers traveling across the U.S. on their way to the BlogHer '08 conference - all the while blogging and video blogging the journey - is one trip you will not want to miss.

Four adventurous bloggers from the Silicon Valley Moms Group were selected to participate in the Summer Road Trip '08 and blog about their travels, hotel stays, media appearances, time away from their families, and life on the road. Six Apart helped them partner up with General Motors, who provided the blogging mommies with a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV to help make their journey comfy, safe, and a little more green.

In case you're not familiar with them, SV Moms is a group of over 200 bloggers who showcase the ups, downs, outrages, struggles, victories, and everyday humor of motherhood. There are currently nine regional and demographically tailored sites that give mothers from D.C., New Jersey, the Deep South, Rocky Mountains, L.A., and Silicon Valley a powerful voice and sense of camaraderie across the country. Whether you're a mother, a child, or just a person who enjoys a good blog, you'll really love reading the words of these amazing women.

The moms buckled into their Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV on July 11th and even got an encouraging message from Katie Couric to kick things off! They are currently somewhere in the middle of America making their way to San Francisco where they'll attend an SV Moms Group Party, as well as BlogHer '08.

Do you live in or around Cincinnati, Ohio? If so, you're in luck because Scott and the Queen City Voxers Group have organized a Vox user meetup!

WHEN: This Saturday, July 12th

WHERE: Ault Park Playground. 3600 Observatory Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208. "We'll look for each other at the playground marked by the red X below. If it's raining, head for the shelter to the north of the [red] X."

Shedding Skin

Here it is, a regression into a life long ago repressed. That cold water slap in the face that I was only half expecting. Was it too soon or is it too late? I’m coming face to face with my biggest failures, fears, and prejudices. I feel like I’m regurgitating. It comes to the surface and I swallow it down, but it still tastes like the same old bullshit. I guess it’s time to consider the consequences of my past and stop hiding behind the façade. It’s Time for me to make room for human frailty and forgive rather, than forget. Am I strong enough?
